Authentic Espadrilles Workshop in San Juan

Learn about the history of the traditional Spanish espadrilles, stitch your own pair and take it home as the most amazing souvenir. The experience will take place in a workshop filled with materials, tools and finished products. Here you can learn about the history of this humble folk shoe that has evolved into a major fashion trend. You'll find out the deepest secrets of this wonderful tradition. Together with master artisans, you'll craft your own pair of espadrilles. Hand-picking out of more than 100 thousand different combinations, you'll choose the size of the base, the stitching style and the colour and type of the laces. Once done, you'll learn the different ways to lace them up. In the end, when you put on your espadrille creation, you will feel like a true artisan. You'll get a wearable memory of Puerto Rico (one that is hardly available to visitors) and a really cool story to tell.

Old San Juan walking tasting tour

On this food, history and culture tour, you’ll enjoy carefully curated tastings at several local, independently owned establishments that reflect Puerto Rico's Taíno Indian, African and Spanish heritage. During your immersive experience, you may try a cup of freshly roasted, hand-picked coffee, perfectly roasted pork, flavourful rice and beans using Grandma’s recipe, a creative plantain-focused dish, and more! Since Puerto Rico is the rum capital of the world, you’ll try two rum cocktails!
